Choosing the Perfect Wedding Dress

Part of the perfect wedding day, is the perfect wedding gown.  A gown that is high-quality, fits comfortably and flatters your figure.
Pear-Shaped

The idea here is to flatter your more slender upper body.  For the most effective glamour, choosing a gown with spaghetti strap or V-neckline bodice is your best bet.  The skirt should start you’re your waist and progressively flare out.  This will highlight your narrow midsection and gradually move out from your hips and thighs.

Well-Endowed/Busty

The scooped neckline is chic, without showing too much cleavage.  However, some brides prefer a strapless gown.  If this is the case, choosing one with a dip or shape; rather than one that moves straight across the bustline is a bride’s best choice.

Depending on whether your figure is more hourglass or pear-shaped,  from your bust down, will determine what type of skirting you should choose.

An hourglass bride can go almost any way.  If you want to accentuate your figure, a more form-fitting skirt or A-line will do the trick.  If you are pear-shaped and want to draw attention from that feature, a skirt that gradually flares out is the best choice for you.

Plus-Sized

Flattering your full figure, with an Empire dress that has a skirt, beginning just under the bust and flowing increasingly to the floor, in an A-line design, will compliment your curves.

Apple-Shaped

First, you will want a dress that tightens at the smallest point of your waistline and proceeds outward from that point.  A bodice with textures, beading and/or lace detail will conceal and bind, in a corset-like fashion, will bring draw attention to your best features.  Horizontal lining of the gown, will add a more stream-like appearance to your figure.

Tall

You will want to accentuate your natural shape, while engaging a lower waistline and a hem that touches the floor.  However, you do not want a gown that has a long or extended hemline.  Simplicity and chic lining will make your gown eye-catching and your figure admirable.

Slim/Non-Curvy

An ideal look, that will create the illusion of curves is the traditional ball gown.  You will want the top to be designed to create a volume look and a skirt that billows out, hiding your lack of curvy hips.  Take advantage of your slender figure and disguise your slender frame with the impression of curves.

Short/Petite

A chic Trumpet gown with a slight A-line will flatter your curves.  You want the skirt to start above the waistline to give your upper-body a longer look.  No extravagant bows or ornamentation are needed.  Basic, simple and elegant are the ideal mix for you.
You want to avoid gowns with huge or billowing skirts or short gowns, that will make your legs appear shorter.

The Benefits of Wedding Aromatherapy

The growing trend of aromatherapy use in everyday life has a multitude of applications.  Between citrus fragrances to keep you alert, focused and energetic to the lavender that helps you relax, reduce anxiety and sleep peacefully, homeopathic aromatherapy has proven to be a natural way to improve mental and physical health.  There is no need to wait until the big day to use aromatherapy as part of your regimen. You can use it every day, before big events and to make the feel of your home warm and inviting.

Getting prepared for your wedding day can cause tons of stress, anxiety and sleepless/restlessness. With all the planning and excitement of the pending nuptials, it’s no wonder there are funny home videos of wedding catastrophes.  Unless that your goal, you will want to do all you can to make your wedding an event to remember.   In order to be your best, inside and out, relieving stress and getting restful sleep in the week or weeks before will make a helpful and positive difference.  To ease anxiety, insomnia, restlessness irritability and/or nervous tension, I recommend trying a diffuser of lavender, ylang ylang, geranium, palma rosa, jonquil, bergamot, chamomile, basil, cypress, frankincense, juniper, neroli, marjoram, lemon, rose, sandalwood, cedarwood, cinnamon or jasmine.  Which one to use, comes down to which fragrance(s) you find most pleasing.  You will want to make sure to smell the essential oil prior to using it in order to select the best fragrance for you.  It is also helpful to dilute the oil with water, at a measure of ¼ water to ¾ oil.

On your big day, you obviously want to feel refreshed, energized and focused.  Essential oils that are spicy or have a citrus scent are the most effective at combatting fatigue and promoting a sense of well-being.  These fragrances stimulate  nerves and positive emotions.  Some of the options include grapefruit, lime, mint, basil, ginger, frankincense, orange, cedar and rosewood.  Again, choose the one(s) that you find most favorable and dilute with water so it won’t become overwhelming.  They key to aromatherapy is not to assault the senses but to entice them.

Finally, a little secret, during the wedding, is the use of aromatherapy bouquets.  The aroma lifting up will enhance the overall atmosphere.  The best flora, for stimulating the senses, are roses, gardenias, lilies, lily-of-the-valley, hyancinths and hydrangeas.  When selecting your bouquet composition, remember, if you’re going to have more than one type of flower, put them together and make sure the culmination of smells is pleasing.

It’s not just enough to look good, but to feel good and positive throughout the day.  It’s guaranteed to make your wedding even more memorable and provide a simply amazing photo array.

How to Look and Feel Great On Your Big Day

Between the wedding rehearsal, dinners, parties and planning, leading up to your wedding, you can be left feeling tired and stressed when you should be laughing, dancing and enjoying your nuptials.   The road most traveled seems to come in the form of caffeine and makeup tips but there’s a better way.  The secret to a radiant bride starts from the inside out.

With everyday life and the upcoming wedding, it’s so easy to grab coffees, sodas and energy drinks to keep pushing along but in the long run, trying to kick it in high gear this way, will eventually lead to a meltdown.  Though occasional caffeine isn’t so bad, this is no time to skimp on water.  We hear it all the time: 6-8 glasses of water a day for good health.  Not only does it aid in proper body functions, it keeps toxins flushed out of your system, which will help avoid skin irritations and puffiness, while giving your skin a natural glow.

After spending a good amount of money on that perfect gown, many brides-to-be think the best thing is to minimize eating before their wedding.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  The key is to choose the best foods and supplements leading up to the big day.

v  Fish is low fat and high in quality protein.  It is filled with omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins such as D and B2 (riboflavin). Fish is rich in calcium and phosphorus and a great source of minerals, such as iron, zinc, iodine, magnesium, and potassium.  These help replenish moisture to your skin and shine to your complexion.  Added benefits include aiding in healthy blood pressure levels.  This will lower your risk for spikes that can make you tired, light-headed or dizzy.  For those, who don’t like fish, there is always the option of a dietary supplement of Fish Oil.

Other alternatives to fish or fish oil are eggs or Omega-3 Fatty Acid supplements.

v  Bright orange or dark green vegetables are a great source of Vitamin A.  .   Vitamin A is essential for healthy skin and teeth.  It also supports a healthy immune system so you don’t get sick before or on you wedding day.  Not everyone likes vegetables, but eating even some kinds can help, in addition to taking a supplement of a Vegetable Multi-Plex or GreenSource.

v  Fruits are not only a great source of natural energy and promote metabolism, they contain antioxidants.  Antioxidants help inhibit free radicals, which can cause cell damage.  To protect against this cell damage, eat fruits like berries, citrus fruits, grapes, tomatoes and melon.  For those who don’t like those fruits, eating any type of fruit with an Antioxidant, such as CO Q10; Lutein, L-Carnatine or Alpha Lipoic Acid.

v  Flaxseed, rich in essential fatty acids, antioxidant and amino acids, aid in nail repair, health skin and hair.  It can be added to smoothies/yogurt or can be taken in the form of the supplement, Flaxseed Oil.  Flaxseed Oil is also instrumental in regulating your digestive system.  One of the things that can be affected by the stress of planning and preparing for the wedding.

Finally, is maintaining your health and energy the day of the wedding.  Nervous jitters, stress and excitement can lead a bride-to-be to not want to eat anything but that is a big no-no.  Breakfast is a must but doesn’t need to be the “All You Can Eat Pancake Special”.  A simple smoothie of juice, yogurt and frozen fruit, along with some whole grain toast will do the trick.  If the wedding is later in the day or early evening, keep healthy foods around to snack on, such as cheese, fruit and veggies.  Stay away from salty snacks and processed food.

Simply follow these tips and you will be bright-eyed, bushy –tailed and still have energy to burn on your honeymoon.

Wedding Tip #1

When the big day arrives, you may find it hard to do a lot of things you normally do, such as eating.  All that nervous tension and excitement may make you less than hungry.  However, not eating on top of the stress of the big day could mean an "America's Funniest Home Video" moment and no bride wants that.

Experts say that eating a few crackers and drinking orange juice will help keep your blood sugar in balance and you on your feet for all to admire.
